Delise’ Ana Fashion Show

_MAT9240

Last night I attended the Delise’ Ana show at Boulevard3 club in Hollywood. A smokin’ club! I’ve never been there before, and it was really nice. The fashion show was quick, as most solo shows tend to be. I did have the good fortune to shoot the models in the dressing room before the show. I met Delise’Ana about a year ago and we’ve been in touch off and on, so I jumped at the chance when Little Designer Book asked if I could cover the show. It was a little insane going to a show that starts at MIDNIGHT…hey I’m not 23 anymore! But it was fun and worth the experience. Below are more images from the show, and some from the preparation beforehand.

As always, if you leave a non-spam comment on my blog, I’ll donate one canned food item to the local food bank.

Thanks (again), Ventura County!

For the second year in a row, Ventura County has voted me “best photographer” in the Ventura County Reporter’s “best of” readers poll. Thanks everyone for voting! I’m extremely touched and humbled by the honor. I attended the VC Reporter gala this evening to receive my award. Here’s a link.

My ‘light test’ image on light-test.com

I just an image accepted on light-test.com. If you’re not familiar with the site, it’s a place where photographers submit amusing or unusual lighting test shots. These are the shots that are taken before the actual photography, to make sure the lighting is right. So go check it out!

Please Vote For Me!

Hey everyone, I need your help please!

The VC Reporter (a Ventura County weekly newspaper) is now conducting its annual readers poll survey. Readers can vote for their favorite Ventura County businesses, artists, etc. I would appreciate if you would vote for me as “best photographer.” You don’t have to vote for anything else if you don’t want to…but “best photographer” is on page 10, and you need to complete page 11 for the survey results to be registered. The survey asks for an email address at the end for verification, but there doesn’t appear to be any verification done (hint hint, if you’re worried about receiving spam).

You don’t have to live in Ventura County to vote!

Thanks in advance! Survey ends on July 31st, so please act quickly.

Christmas Tree Trimming (with Off-Camera Lighting)

Just a little family-fun posting here, along with some nerdy technical lighting. Yes, that’s right, I bring joy to Christmas by hiding small flash units around the living room. My wife barely gave me a look this time…she’s used to this sort of thing by now. But hey, a little lighting takes even snapshots to a new level. For this impromptu group shot above, I even got the dog to look at the camera. A first!

A high-tech lighting diagram, and more family fun follows. And by the way, this is all out of the strobist handbook. I didn’t invent this. I just have a cuter family.

Multi-Panel Prints

I’m in the process of adding ‘Multi-Panel’ or ‘Storyboard’ prints to my product line. I’ll be offering 10×20″ and 15×30″ sizes, with up to four images and custom text per print. This allows me to combine my love of design with my love of photography. Woo hoo! And you get something cool and unique. Here are a couple of examples:
