A few weeks ago I photographed a wedding in Ojai, CA, and the caterer had supplied a most amazing beverage: Vanilla-Ginger Lemonade! It was so good I had at least three glasses of it. Perfectly refreshing for a warm summer day. I became obsessed with this and contacted the wedding caterer – Main Course California (based out of Ventura) – for the recipe. Rachel Main very graciously supplied me with the recipe. So I thought I’d share it with you. The recipe is below.
2 pints simple syrup
1 vanilla bean, split open
4 oz fresh ginger, sliced
3 quarts filtered water
1 pint plus 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
Mix simple syrup with ginger and vanilla, steep at room temperature for 30 minutes. Mix all ingredients together in a 2 gallon container. Let sit overnight. Before serving, strain. Enjoy over ice.
It is important to use filtered water so that the lemonade does not have a mineral flavor.
