“M and M” got married at a private residence in Malibu, CA. And what a wedding! A designer wedding dress, a ceremony overlooking the Pacific Ocean, cocktails in the formal garden, reception on the lawn and an after-party in the pool house…featuring a DJ, percussion player, a roving violin player and go-go dancers(!). It was truly a big production, but with all that activity one fact was apparent: that family and friends were the most important thing of all. Personally, the things I’ll remember most from this wedding are the touching speeches from the parents, and the tears of joy.

I shot this wedding using a Mamiya 645AF and two Nikon F100 cameras. The film was primarily Kodak Portra 400 for daylight, and CineStill for the reception (35mm tungsten-balanced Kodak 500T movie film, converted for photographic use). For black and white I used Ilford XP2 and a little Kodak Tri-X. I think Brandon had a roll or two of Kodak Ektar thrown in the mix as well. I used some off-camera flash with radio triggers to light the reception.
